DRM

I don't think that music companies should have to make the distributors of online songs use DRMs. If their fear is that they won't be payed for their music then I think they need to look at it more closely. There have been times where I've had a friend download a song from a file sharing site that I wanted. If I liked it i'd more often then not go out and buy the CD, which isn't protected and gives the music companies their money. A song file that didn't have a DRM protecting it just sold an album. I don't think that Apple should have to sell their secrets, much like Steve Jobs said, if that happened then it would be leaked all over the internet within minutes and soon after free software could be downloaded to get rid of the DRM protectiong songs from iTunes and the Zune Marketplace. I think the music industry should suck it up and not require the use of DRM. if it was an open music market then yes certain musicians would be hurt financially. Slightly. It would also help upcoming artists by letting their music to be played on multiple devices, be they computers or portable players.
